Meru 550 AD:

  • The princely state of Chamba was founded by Meru in 550 AD.
  • Meru made Bharmour which is Brahmapur as his capital Berhampur was the first capital of Chamba Dominion.

Aditya Varman:

Aditya Varman first assumed the title of Varman. Aditya Varman was the son of Meru.

Lakshmi Varman 800 AD :

  • The epidemic (Plague) spread during the reign of Lakshmi Burman in 800 AD.
  • Laxmi Verman was killed by the people of Chamba. At that time Lakshmi Varman’s wife was pregnant and she gave birth to Mushan Varman in a cave.
  • At that time Mushan Varman was protected by rats.

Mushan Verman 820 AD :

  • Mushan Varman had banned the killing of rats in his state.
  • Mushan Varman married the princess of Suket and got Bangana princely state in dowry.



Sahil Verman 920 AD to 940 AD :

  • Sahil Verman was also a king of the princely state of Chamba.
  • Sahil Burman’s wife was Rani Naina Devi.
  • It was Sahil Burman who founded the city of Chamba. He named the city of Chamba after his daughter Champavati.
  • Sahil Burman shifted his capital from Brahmapura to Chamba.
  • Sahil Burman had 10 sons and Yogi Charpat Nath also blessed him.
  • 84 yogis also visited Chamba during the reign of Sahil Burman
  • Sahil Burman’s wife Rani Naina Devi was buried alive in the ground to quench the thirst of the subjects (For the People of Chamba).
  • Suhi Mela (Suhi Fair) is celebrated in the memory of Rani Naina Devi in Chamba since that time for women and children.
  • Chamba Fort was built in Sahil Burman itself.

Yugankar Varman 940 AD:

  • Yugankar Burman’s wife was Tribhuvan Rekha Devi.
  • The construction of Narsingh temple in Chamba was also done by Yugankar Varman. 

Jasata Verman 1040 AD :

  • Iron Tikri stone articles (Loh Tikari Pathar Lekh) were written during the reign of Jasata Burman itself.
  • One of the stone articles was found in Churah.

Lalit Varman 1143 AD:

  • Sechu Nala inscription and Diplo Kothi inscription were written from the reign of Lalit Varman.

Ganesh Varman 1512 AD :

  • Ganesh Varman was the first to take the title of Singh.

Pratap Singh Varman 1559 AD :

  • Pratap Singh Varman was a contemporary of Akbar.
  • Pratap Singh Verman defeated the ruler of Kangra, Raja Chandrapal and merged Guler with Chamba.

Balabhadra 1589 AD :

  • Balabhadra was also known as Bali Karan who was very generous.

Janardhan:

  • Janardana was the son of Balabhadra.
  • The Battle of Dhlog took place between Raja Janardan of Chamba and Raja Jagat Singh of Nurpur and Janardan was killed in 1623.

Prithvi Singh 1641 AD :

  • Prithvi Singh was a contemporary of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan.
  • Prithvi Singh presented the statue of Raghuveer to Shah Jahan.



Chattar Singh 1664 AD :

  • Chattar Singh was a contemporary of Aurangzeb.
  • Even though Chatar Singh had captured Basauli by attacking the Bhlai.
  • Chattar Singh had refused the order of Aurangzeb to break the temples.

Udai Singh 1690 AD :

  • Udai Singh ji was a ruler of Chamba who was the son of Chattr Singh.
  • Udai Singh had married the barber’s daughter and made the daughter’s father, who was a barber, the vizier of the Chamba.

Umaid Singh 1748 AD:

  • Umaid Singh was also a ruler of Chamba who built the Nada Mahal of Chamba.
  • Umaid Singh also built Rang Mahal in Chamba.
  • It was Umaid Singh who prohibited his wives from committing sati.
  • Umaid Singh died in 1764 at the age of 39.

Raj Singh 1764 AD :

  • The Battle of Nerti was fought during the reign of Raja Raj Singh.
  • During the reign of Raja Raj Singh, he had a war with Raja Sansar Chand of Kangra and it happened near Shahpur, in which Raja Raj Singh was killed in 1794.
  • The protection of Chamba painting was also received at the time of Raja Raj Singh.

Raja Jeet Singh 1794 AD :

  • Raja Jeet Singh led the Chamba army in the capture of Kishtwar state in 1786.
  • Raja Jeet Singh had also sent soldiers in the war against King Sansar Chand of Kangra to Prophet.
  • This war took place from 1804 to 1805.

Charpat Singh 1808 AD :

  • Raja Charpat Singh was also a ruler of Chamba.
  • Charpat Singh became king at the age of 6.
  • Charpat Singh was 6 years old, that’s why the whole state was looked after by Nathu Wazir, who died in 1838.
  • After that Wazir Bhaga was made the new Wazir.
  • It was during the reign of Charpat Singh that in 1839 Bigne and General Cunningham visited Chamba.
  • Charpat Singh died in 1844.

Shri Singh 1844 AD :

  • In the time of Shri Singh, Chamba went under the British in 1846.
  • Golden Period of Chamba Started according to history.
  • The first post office was built in Chamba in 1863.
  • Shri Singh, who was the Raja of Chamba, helped the British in the revolt of 1857.
  • Shree Singh had sent the army under the leadership of Mian Singh.

Gopal Singh 1870 AD :

  • Gopal Singh was the brother of Shree Singh.
  • Lord Mayo came to Chamba in the year 1871 during the time of Gopal Singh.

Shyam Singh 1873 AD :

  • Shyam Singh was the son of Gopal Singh.
  • Shyam Singh became the king of Chamba at the age of 7 with the help of General Renil Their.
  • Sir Henry Davis visited Chamba in 1874 at the same time as Shyam Singh.
  • Shyam Singh participated in the Delhi Durbar in 1875 to 1877 AD.
  • Halps farming was started in 1870.
  • Sir Chance Actingson came to Chamba in 1883 during the time of Raja Shyam Singh.
  • John Harry was made Shyam Singh’s teacher in 1878.
  • Shyam Singh Hospital was built in Chamba in 1891.
  • In 1895 there was a revolt of the farmers in Bhatia of Chamba district.
  • Bhuri Singh was made the Wazir in 1898.
  • In 1900 Lord Curzon and his wife visited to Chamba.
  • Raja Shyam Singh became ill in the year 1902 and after that Bhuri Singh, who was the Wazir, was made the king of Chamba.

Bhuri Singh 1904 AD :

  • Bhuri Singh was given Knighthood designation on 1st January 1904.
  • Bhuri Singh Museum was built by Bhuri Singh in 1908.
  • Bhuri Singh helped the British in the First World War from 1914 to 1918.
  • Bhuri Singh died in 1919.

Raja Laxman Singh 1935 AD :

  • Laxman Singh was the last ruler of Chamba.
  • In 15th April 1948 Chamba was merged into the Himachal Pradesh as a District.
